Brace Cut and Strut Design

I am little bit confuse about the Braced cut strut capacity design. Most of the book i had they are assuming the lateral force that resisted by the soil against the sheeting below the bottom of excavation is zero (as shoown as fig below R4=0). this is the one of the example of the PE preparation class work shop problem (which i got from my friend which is taking the exam in different subject). this question asked the lateral force that resisted by soil against the sheeting below the bottom of excavation and it is calculated 1854 lb/ft.
if anybody know what is the solution for this isue and where we can get better supporting materials for brace cut design?
if there is some lateral force developed against the soil below the excavation than what will be the condition or what will be the minimum penetration depth of sheet?
